The Big Relaunch

The long-awaited makeover of my blog is finally here! Well, you might not have been waiting for it, but I sure have been. I'd been telling Daddy for months that my blog design was stale and more befitting the aesthetic sensibilities and technological acumen of a middle-aged lawyer than those of a bright-eyed, tech-savvy member of Generation Next.

Daddy kept promising to come up with a plan to "jazz up" the blog -- the use of which expression should have been a warning sign that Daddy is more than a little behind the times -- but all he ever came up with was a suggestion to switch to a sans serif font. So I contracted an underemployed web marketing executive to work up some design proposals, and this is what we came up with. I thought the whole "2.0" thing was a bit overdone and sooo 2005, but I just turned 2 on January 6 and I'm a sucker for double entendres. So here we are.

You'll notice something about the picture above; there's lots of space around me. Lots of space. That's because Mommy and Daddy finally got us out of that cramped 2-bedroom condo and bought a house! I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself. I may be almost as excited as Mommy and Daddy's real estate agent Jerry, who only had to show them like a bazillion houses before they picked this one.

But the wait paid off. My new house actually has multiple rooms, so we no longer have to make do with a dining room/living room/play area/home office combo.
There are so many rooms to explore and boundaries to break; it's very liberating! Best of all I have a big backyard to roam and... drum roll... my very own swing set!

I should also throw in the obligatory holiday pics. It's been a whirlwind since November, when we celebrated Thanksgiving at the home of Aunt Michelle, Uncle Trey and cousins Charlie and Ellie (pictured above teaching me how to plop down stairs on my bum), along with Nana and Pa (pictured supervising me riding cousin Ellie's scooter).

Then we had Mommy's birthday on Dec. 19, Christmas, New Year's, and capped it all off with the double birthday celebration for me and Aunt Trinity (Jan. 6).

Mommy hates having all the birthdays and holidays jammed together, but Daddy likes it because he can buy a single gift for two or more occasions. I told Mommy she should have him trained better by now. Anyway, after all that celebrating, Mommy and I were dog tired.

I hope you all like the new blog design and visit often!

Love,

Henry David ("HD")

Summer 2009 Edition

Since my last post I have been busy growing up really fast. I have a couple months to catch you up on... March, April, May, and June!! OH MY! (that is one of my favorite sayings) that is a lot of months. I have been too busy playing to get on the computer to update my blog.
In February we went to Austin, TX to visit our friends from law school. I had a great time playing with Sienna, Alex and Patricia! We are all about the same age so we had fun playing on the playground and hanging out. I am still taking swimming lessions and I graduated to the next level in June. I love swimming! I think I will be a swimmer when I grow up. Here I am with mommy and my instructor...I am under the water!!

Floating on my back relaxing

For Easter the Easter Bunny brought me toys and edible Easter grass. It was not as good as I thought it would be, still tasted like paper! In May we took a big trip to Boston to visit our friends and mommy did the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer! I loved the plane ride and made friends with the man behind us who had on a cowboy hat that I kept calling a "Cool Hat" and I told all the women that came by they had pretty jewelry on! I think mommy and daddy had a good plane ride but they looked really tired afterwards :)

This is me and daddy in Boston. We had a great time in Boston visiting our friends and eating a lot of Italian Food in the North End. I even got to eat fettuccine...yummmmyyyy.
When June came it got really hot in Phoenix, so we started swimming all the time. We went to Aunt Maria's house to play with her dogs and swim with them. This is me taking over Samantha's bed! She is the adorable doggie on the couch. I think she likes the couch better!!
For the 4th of July we went to Flagstaff! It was nice and cool up there. We got caught in a rain storm, this is us after we got soaked!!
I promise I won't take so long to update again. Love- Henry

13 Months Old

Henry turned 1 years old on January 6th, but we are a little behind on updating the blog. Henry had his 12 month appointment in January.
His new stats are: 24 pounds 7 ounces, 31 inches, 8 teeth, walking, can say hi, bye, daddy, mommy, hat, kitty, ball, bike, and other words we are not sure are yet! He loves repeating everything we say. Henry is in swimming lessons one day a week. Tiffany goes with him. He goes underwater and blow bubbles. He loves the water. We are so happy with the classes and will post some pictures soon.
He loves his baseball hats and likes to wear them all the time. He only likes to only wear one shoe, he usually takes off the right foot shoe! Very funny!

My 1st Christmas and New Years 2008

Happy New Year! (Sorry this is so late mommy and daddy never let me on the computer.)
My first Christmas was awesome. I loved spending so much time with mommy and daddy and Grandma and Aunt Trinny. I loved all of my gifts and learned about setting cookies out for Santa.
The holidays started out with a visit to see Santa or as I like to refer to him as Mall Santa. This is the first person I really did not like holding me. I did not want to take a picture with him so we did a family picture. Daddy said they used the WIDE lens! Needless to say we don't like the photo, but Grandma said it will be something to laugh about when I get older! NOTE FROM MOMMY- no one will see the picture.
After Christmas Nana and Pa came to visit me from Ohio. I was so happy to see them and spend tons of time with them. I got my one year pictures taken while they were here and we went to the Fiesta Bowl Parade! The parade was super fun, but I fell asleep before it was over.
While Nana and Pa were here we celebrated my first birthday. Mommy and Daddy had a big party for me.. well big for me! I loved seeing all my friends and cousins. I got to eat my first piece of cake. Aunt Trinny made me the caterpillar cupcake cake! My first birthday was a huge success. Can't wait until next year.

Got to get back to riding my new bike. More to come...I just had my year check up!

Love- Henry

Fall is here, okay so I am a little late on getting this out!

Hi Everyone-
It has been a really fun October and November. I was a dragon for Halloween and loved hanging out in my costume. Mom and dad did not dress up, I was a little upset with them! I told them next year they have to dress up with me.

In August we visited my dad's alma mater Miami University of Ohio and a couple weeks ago I went to see my mommy's alma mater Northern Arizona University. It was fun to see both and maybe one day I will attend one of them. We went to the NAU football game. It was my first football game. I have to run now...I promise to write again really soon. Love- Henry

9 months old!

Hi Everyone,
I am 9 months old now. Mommy and daddy can't believe I am that old!

Here are my current stats:

9 months old

20lbs 14oz 50%

30 inches 95%

6 teeth

crawling everywhere and trying to walk

and I have more hair!

I love eating all kinds of new foods and I like to drink from my sippy cup. I am picking up the food and feeding myself really good...okay so mommy has to help me a lot but I love to try!

I have a new nanny in Phoenix, her name is Laona and she is super nice! We have a ton of fun together! I am excited about Hallowee coming up and can't wait to go trick or treating.

We went to the Arizona Irish Festival this past weekend with GMa and Aunt Trinny. We had a great time listening to the music and eating Irish food. I loved the music.
